Wendy Himmelman embarked on a 30+ year career with the Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) after earning her B.Sc. in Psychology from Dalhousie University. Her diverse experience as a vocational rehabilitation counselor, case manager, and her Diploma in Disability Management uniquely prepared her for her subsequent role as a Professional Practice Coach at WCB. In this capacity, she served as a trusted advisor and instructor in areas such as claims management, return-to-work strategies, and decision writing. Wendy has a comprehensive understanding of the Nova Scotia Workers’ Compensation Act and Policies.
Over the past four years, she has leveraged her expertise to provide Disability Management services to a major employer in Nova Scotia. Her responsibilities encompass identifying injury and illness trends, reducing costs, and minimizing time loss durations. Collaborating closely with Human Resources, Safety, and union representatives, Wendy participated in the development of clear processes that facilitated effective communication with insurance providers (WCB and personal injury/illness insurers).

Dr. Raphael Panais is a graduate of Dalhousie Medical School with dual residencies in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine. As an experienced emergency physician, he has served in numerous emergency departments across the province. In 2019, he earned his Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine, complementing his expertise with specialized training in Occupational Medicine through the University of Alberta in 2015 and 2023. Since 2016, Dr. Panais has been conducting return-to-work assessments, drawing on his diverse medical background to support injured workers. Outside of his professional life, he stays active through exercise, enjoys reading, and loves to travel.
